Reminders not arriving

Check notification permissions

Go to iPhone Settings → Again → Notifications. Make sure “Allow Notifications” is on and that the alert style is set to Banners or Alerts (not Off).

Check Focus modes

iOS Focus modes (Do Not Disturb, Sleep, Work, etc.) can silence notifications from specific apps. In Settings → Focus, verify that Again is not blocked under your active Focus filter.

Check in-app reminder settings

Open Again → Settings → Reminders. Confirm that reminders are enabled and the scheduled time is set to a time you expect to receive them.

Try rescheduling

Toggle the reminder off, then back on in Again's Settings. This reschedules the underlying notification trigger.

Sound or haptics not working

Check Again's sound setting

Open Again → Settings and confirm that completion sound is enabled. The pencil-scratch sound plays when you cross off an unfinished task; restoring a task is intentionally silent.

Check device audio

Raise your device volume and confirm audio is playing through the output you expect, such as the iPhone speaker rather than connected headphones or a Bluetooth device.

Haptic feedback

Confirm haptics are enabled in Again's Settings and in iOS Settings → Sounds & Haptics. Haptic availability varies by device.

Daily reset and day-start hour

Again resets your completion marks automatically at the day-start hour you have configured — not at midnight by default. Your checklist items and their order are preserved; only the “crossed off” state clears.

Adjusting your day-start hour

In Again → Settings → Day Start, choose the hour that matches when you consider a new day to begin. Night owls can set this to 2 AM or 3 AM so late-evening habits count for the correct logical date.

Reset didn't happen

Again resets when the app is opened on or after the day-start hour. If the app was not opened after midnight, the reset occurs the next time you launch it. Background refresh is not required.

Backup and restore

Again includes a JSON export/import feature. A backup contains your checklist items, categories, order, completion records, and app settings. Your locally stored profile image is not included.

Creating a backup

Again → Settings → Backup & Restore → Export. The iOS Share Sheet will open; save to Files, AirDrop, email, or any destination you choose. The file remains entirely under your control.

Restoring from a backup

Again → Settings → Backup & Restore → Import. Locate the .json file you exported earlier. Again will replace the current list with the backup contents.

iCloud device backup

If you use iCloud device backups (iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → iCloud Backup), Again's local data is included automatically. Restoring from an iCloud device backup will restore the app data as it was at the time of that backup.

Reinstalling the app

⚠ Export a backup before reinstalling

Deleting Again from your device will remove all local app data. Your checklist items and settings will be lost unless you have saved a backup. Before reinstalling, use Again → Settings → Backup & Restore → Export to create a backup file.

If you reinstall from an iCloud device backup, the app data may be restored depending on whether that backup was created with Again installed and iCloud backup enabled. This is governed by iOS backup behaviour, not the app itself.

If you have lost data and did not create a backup, we are sorry — because Again is fully local, we have no copy of your data and cannot recover it.
